چکیده

Over the coming years, world is projected to witness an upsurge in “drop-in” aviation biofuel production as part of renewable energy and bioeconomy developments. This paper presents a comprehensive review current status biojet fuel development uptake global commercial industry, including state-of-the-art certified technologies (i.e. Fischer-Tropsch (FT); hydroprocessed esters fatty acids (HEFA); alcohol-to-jet (ATJ); hydroprocessing fermented sugars (HFS)); potential feedstock that can be deployed; comparison techno-economic environmental performances routes; airlines’ commitment promoting higher uptake; initiatives policies. shows HEFA route using oil-based crops best performing terms lowest cost greenhouse gas emissions, however it competition with existing road transport market. Lignocellulosic biomass waste should promoted view replacing food/feed which have high indirect land use change emissions. Therefore, further improvement focused on FT, ATJ HFS routes enhance effectiveness promote commercialisation these technologies. The selection for SAF justified based footprint, while avoiding shortcomings policies such blending mandate multiplier RED II addressed reduce negative impacts between sectors meet decarbonisation targets.

Trading Off Global Fuel Supply, CO2 Emissions and Sustainable Development

The United Nations Conference on Climate Change (Paris 2015) reached an international agreement to keep the rise in global average temperature 'well below 2°C' and to 'aim to limit the increase to 1.5°C'. These reductions will have to be made in the face of rising global energy demand. Here a thoroughly validated dynamic econometric model (Eq 1) is used to forecast global energy demand growth (...

Business strategies for sustainable development

The concept of sustainable development has received growing recognition, but it is a new idea for many business executives. For most, the concept remains abstract and theoretical. Protecting an organization's capital base is a well-accepted business principle. Yet organizations do not generally recognize the possibility of extending this notion to the world's natural and human resources. If sus...

Artificial photosynthesis for sustainable fuel and chemical production.

The apparent incongruity between the increasing consumption of fuels and chemicals and the finite amount of resources has led us to seek means to maintain the sustainability of our society. Artificial photosynthesis, which utilizes sunlight to create high-value chemicals from abundant resources, is considered as the most promising and viable method. This Minireview describes the progress and ch...
